Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Judith Bruner, who served as one of the first female naval aviators in the 1970s and 1980s. Born in 1948, Judith Bruner started preparing for a career in aviation from an early age. Her father, a pilot who served in World War II, managed an airport, and she was piloting planes solo by age 16. [From VAntage Point]

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Air Force Veteran Mary Smith, who served as a nurse practitioner at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Mary Smith was raised in Howells, Nebraska, a town of 600. After graduating high school, she spent a year as a student at Nebraska Wesleyan University before enlisting in the Air Force in 1988. [From VAntage Point]

During Black History Month, today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Marcella Hayes Ng, who was the first female African American pilot to serve in the military. Marcella Hayes Ng joined the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) while in college at the University of Wisconsin. She excelled in training, becoming one of the two women accepted for the Tri-Service ROTC Exhibition Drill Team and taking on a leadership role at the ROTC Advanced Camp in the summer of 1977.
