VA’s Center for Women Veterans hosted a Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) in March for Veterans, family members, caregivers and survivors in American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii and the Northern Mariana Islands. The program proactively assisted Veterans throughout the Pacific region with VA benefits, health care and resources. It was held in partnership with the Hawaii Office of Veterans Services, the Guam Veterans Affairs Office, local Veterans service offices, Got Your 671 and U.S. Vets. [From VA News]

March 26, 2023, marked three years since South Texas VA received its first COVID-19 patient. At the beginning, vaccines were not present and research on the disease was very limited. Record numbers of transmissions sky-rocketed in the South Texas region. [From VA News]

The Veterans Benefits Banking Program (VBBP) is a VA initiative that assists Veterans and their beneficiaries by providing secure access to banking options and financial services to protect them from fraudulent schemes and pension poaching. April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM). It is critical to bring added awareness to the prevalence of this epidemic throughout our nation. By emphasizing the importance of intervention and response, and embedding accountability into our policies and practices, VA is creating a culture that is safer and more welcoming for all. In a CNN report, data shows an increase in overall sexual harassment and sexual assault reports within the military branches of Army, Navy and Air Force between 2020 and 2021. [From VA News]

VA provides reproductive health care that you can trust, which includes services like Pap tests, birth control, pre-pregnancy care, maternity support, mammograms, and help with menopausal symptoms. Many Veterans, their families and survivors have filed claims related to a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, radiation and other toxic substances—the PACT Act. It also added more health conditions that VA will presume are caused by exposure to these substances making it easier for beneficiaries to access VA benefits and services. You can easily check the status of your PACT Act claim once it has been submitted. [From VA News]
