friend of mine was laughing about teaching her son to ride a bicycle. She took him to a church parking lot in the middle of the week, so he’d have plenty of space to move around. Her son pointed out, “Mom, there’s a light pole in the middle.” She told him that there was so much room he didn’t need to worry about it. [From VA News]

If you’re a woman Veteran, your experience with health conditions may be different than men who served… and your risk for certain diseases may be different from civilian women. At VA, we’re making health discoveries for women Veterans through the Million Veteran Program (MVP). One in 10 MVP participants are women. [From VA News]

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Navy Veteran Mary “Missy” Cummings, who was one of the first women to serve as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy. Mary “Missy” Cummings had originally been advised to join the Air Force growing up, often being told it was a better environment for women. However, she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and, in 1998, went on to study mathematics at the U.S. Naval Academy. [From VA News]

We honor her service.
