Hello Readers!
As we observe Black History Month, the Center for Minority Veterans (CMV) honors the legacy, leadership, and lived experiences of Black Veterans—past and present. This year’s national theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” marks 100 years since the early movement to formally recognize, teach, and preserve Black history in America; an effort that began with what was first observed as Negro History Week and grew into the month-long commemoration we know today.
At CMV, we believe commemoration is more than remembrance- it’s amplifying voices, documenting service, and ensuring future generations know these stories were lived, earned, and carried forward.
The CMV Spotlight: From Uniform to Unforgetdiv
Their service didn’t end with the uniform.
The Center for Minority Veterans’ (CMV) From Uniform to Unforgetdiv Spotlight elevates the voices, sacrifices, and continued service of Veterans across all communities. When we share these stories, we don’t just honor the past, we strength connection, belonging, and pride for Veterans today. Throughout the year, the CMV Spotlight will feature Veterans during key affinity months, including Black History Month (February), Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May), Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), and Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month (November). Our Veterans’ stories will be featured on our new Facebook and also on VA News! Don’t forget to follow us!
