Author and Navy Veteran Lisa Washington is a Christian fiction author, who has written three books, including her newest, “Kaleigh.” This month’s author is Lisa Washington, a Christian fiction author and the winner of the 2020 Author Elite Award for her novel Love Lifted Me, also the winner of the 2018 African American Literary Show Award for best Christian Fiction for her debut novel When You Least Expect It. Lisa is a Navy Veteran and a graduate of Wayne State University, Averett University and Butler University. Education is important to her; she is currently an advisor for an online university. Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Veteran Monica Benning, who took care of patients as a nurse during the attack on Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941. In 1914, Monica Benning was born to her parents, August and Mary Anne Conter. Her father was a doctor, and she chose to follow in her father’s footsteps by becoming a nurse. [From VAntage Point]

Today’s #VeteranOfTheDay is Army Air Forces Veteran Lorrain Vogelsang, a 100 year old who served as a clerk during World War II. Lorrain Mulvaney Vogelsang endured the hardships of the Great Depression before enlisting in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. The third oldest of eight siblings, she lived in Fairfax, Ohio, with her parents. [From VAntage Point]
