VA Community Living Centers

An Option for Veterans

A Community Living Center (CLC) is a VA Nursing Home. There are over 100 locations across the country. Veterans stay in a CLC for a short time, or, in rare cases, for the rest of their lives.

Home-like Feel

Unlike many nursing homes in the past, a CLC resembles “home” as much as possible. Community Living Centers have:

  • Activities for Veterans of all ages
  • Family friendly places for visits
  • Options for pets to visit or live in the CLC

Services Provided

All CLCs provide these services:

  • 24-hour skilled nursing care
  • Restorative care
  • Access to social work services
  • Geriatric evaluation and management

And some CLCs also provide:

  • Mental health recovery care
  • Special care for Veterans with dementia
  • Respite Care
  • Palliative Care and Hospice Care for end of life
