MLK birthday with quote

Commemorating an American Hero

Today the nation celebrates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and commemorates his remarkable legacy. What is most admirable about Dr. King is his recognition of human dignity of all people, which parallels to the Caregiver Support Program’s mission for the Veterans and caregivers we serve.

Dr. King was a man of profound faith, deep compassion, and unfailing dedication. He reminded us that “the quality, not the longevity, of one’s life is what is important,” and that “we must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.” He challenged everyone to live up to the ideals outlined in America’s founding documents – that everyone is created equal and are all entitled to the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

In celebration of Dr. King’s birthday, let’s honor his legacy and recommit ourselves to the standard he set.

Very Respectfully,

The Caregiver Support Program
